Privacy policy
Effective October 1, 2026
shindig only collects what it needs to work. We don't sell your information, we don't run ads, and we don't track you around the web. You can delete your account whenever you want.
Who we are
shindig is a live music guide for New York City, run by Griffin Bader in New York, NY. You can reach us at griffin@ctownsounds.com.
Using shindig without an account
You don't need an account to browse shows. If you mark shows as Going or Interested while signed out, those picks stay in your own browser and are never sent to us.
Counting visits
To see whether people come back, shindig keeps a simple visit log. Your browser makes up a random code the first time you visit and saves it. Each time you open shindig (at most once every 30 minutes), we record that code and the time. If you're signed in, the visit is also tied to your account. If you arrived through a personal link we sent you, we note which link.
The code isn't connected to your name, device or anything outside shindig, and we don't use it to follow you on other sites. Clearing your browser's site data resets it.
Reporting a show
If you use "Something wrong with this listing?" or "Missing a show?", we store what you wrote, which show it was about, the time, and your visit code (plus your account, if you're signed in) so we can follow up on it.
What we collect when you make an account
We store your email address so we can send you sign-in links. shindig doesn't use passwords.
We also store the name, username and color you pick for your profile, the shows you mark Going or Interested, and your friend connections. For each show you save, we keep a copy of its details so your history still works after the show is over. Each account also has a private invite code that powers your invite link.
We don't collect your location, your contacts or any payment information, and we don't use outside analytics or ad trackers. The visit log above is kept in our own database.
Who can see your information
Anyone signed in to shindig can look up your username and see your name and color. That's how friends find each other.
Your plans and show history are only visible to your friends, meaning people you've added who have also added you back. Nobody else can see them. You can also make any plan private, or turn on Keep my plans private under Profile, and then only you can see it. Your email address and invite code are never shown to other users.
How we use it
We use your information to sign you in, save your plans and show them to your friends. We don't sell it, rent it or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Other services involved
shindig runs on a few outside services. Supabase stores account information and sends sign-in emails from servers in the US. GitHub Pages hosts the website and, like any web host, keeps standard server logs such as IP addresses. OpenStreetMap supplies the map when you use the map view. Google Fonts, cdnjs and jsDelivr supply fonts and code the site needs to run. Band photos are loaded directly from venue and ticketing websites.
When you tap a ticket link, you leave shindig and the venue's or ticket seller's own privacy policy applies. Some ticket links may become affiliate links in the future, which would mean shindig earns a small commission when you buy. We'll update this policy before that happens.
Deleting your data
We keep your account information until you delete your account. You can do that anytime under Profile → Delete my account. Deleting your account permanently removes your sign-in record, profile, plans, show history, friend connections and the visits tied to your account. Show reports you sent stay, but are no longer connected to you. If you'd rather, email us and we'll delete it for you.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it by emailing griffin@ctownsounds.com. We'll get back to you within 30 days.
Children
shindig isn't meant for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
Security
Everything is sent over encrypted connections, and our database rules only let each person see their own information and their friends' plans. No system is completely secure, but we work to keep your information protected.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of the page. If the change is significant, we'll also let signed-in users know in the app.
